Peter De Schrijver - Mind

Presented by Peter De Schrijver, one of the first Linux kernel hackers in Belgium. Peter's contributions to the Linux kernel include the Token Ring drivers and development on Apollo, PowerPC and the m68k architecture. Peter is senior developer and board member at Mind Linux Consultancy, a Linux company located in Leuven.
Peter will discuss the following topics about the soon-to-be-released 2.4 kernel:

  • SMP scalability improvements
    • Softnet
    • Finer grained locking
    • Interrupt affinity
  • Logical Volume Management
  • More than 4GB or 64GB RAM (Physical Address Extension)

Zope - introduction to a web object publishing framework

Zope is an open source web application framework that has gained quite a bit of following and momentum in the one and a half years of its existence. This talk will offer a high-level introduction to Zope, and an overview of the possiblities it offers for building web applications. Zope has some rather interesting features that are treating, including its flexibility and modularity, its security system, object publishing and its complete through the web development.
