Linux 2.4 from a user's point of view, DEA - Using php for advanced

Linux 2.4 from a user's point of view

Jan Vanhercke (C-Cure)

The improvements of Linux 2.4 kernel are often explainen in technical terms (call it Allan Cox speak). But why should a Linux user (or administrator) move to the new kernel. Is it really such a great improvement? If so how do we start to use them. Some of the topics discussed wil be: the journaled filesystem, logical volume manager, new network security code, address translation, NFS changes, USB support, QOS, policy routing... Each of the topics will discuss the essential commands to get things running.

DEA - Using php for advanced web-applications

Jo Giraerts (Life)

A view into the development and functioning of DEA, an ERP software package, completely built in PHP.

We look into the complex building stones of a webbased application with examples taken from the DEA source. All major problems in designing a webbased application will be addressed together with some possible solutions.
